The printing process involves transferring an image or text from a printer onto paper, and the most common method is to use inkjet, laser, and dot matrix printers. Inkjet printers create an image or text by spraying small drops of liquid ink (which can be dye or coloured pigments) onto the paper at high speed. This prints thousands of dots that combine to recreate the digital text or image. The quality of the printed material is determined by the resolution and density of the dots.
Laser printers produce a similar result to inkjets, but use a different mechanism. The laser printer’s print head moves over the paper, and a heat-electric current from the cartridge causes the print head to heat up and melt a wax-like substance. The ink or wax is then projected on the paper. The laser printer is more expensive than the inkjet, and produces higher quality prints.
